THE KICKABOOM STORY
Kickaboom is owned by Blue Mountains locals Dylan and Alisha. After years of travel and time spent deep in the Sydney coffee scene, Dylan returned home with a plan: bring top-tier coffee and fresh ideas back to the Mountains.
After working in coffee in the Blue Mountains, Dylan spent several years at the award-winning Paramount Coffee Project in Surry Hills—first running the coffee bar, then managing the entire operation. The cafe became a platform for showcasing exceptional coffees, hosting international guests, and pushing the boundaries of what a coffee experience could be.
During this time, Dylan spent time gaining hands-on experience across every part of the industry- from brewing and roasting to competition. Dylan placed 2nd in the NSW Barista Championships, won the Australian Aeropress Championship in 2014, and represented Australia at the World Aeropress Competition in Italy.
After some years working in Sydney (and a few more kids later), in 2017, Kickaboom opened its doors in Glenbrook, followed by Frankly My Dear in Katoomba in 2019.
Our menu is inspired by travel and driven by creativity— we make as much as we can in-house, from sauces and soda syrups to almond milk and banana bread, with a commitment to reducing waste and sourcing locally.
But at our core, we’re all about coffee. We work with roasters who care about where coffee comes from and how it’s grown, and we love starting conversations that connect our customers to the full story behind every cup.
We’re proud to bring specialty coffee to Glenbrook and create a place where people feel at home. Come say hey-we’d love to make you a coffee.
